What is the Lampitt Medal?(Brief Article)

The Lampitt Medal recognises very long or outstanding service by a Member to the Society through the Subject Groups, the Geographical Sections and membership of SCI Standing Committees. It commemorates Leslie Herbert Lampitt, who was SCI's President from 1946 to 1948 and at different times both Honorary Treasurer and Honorary Foreign Secretary. Dr Lampitt was born in 1887, studied at the University of Birmingham, and then subsequently set up a laboratory service for J Lyons as its first Chief Chemist.
