BUSH RAINOUT: President Bush cut short a suburban Chicago campaignvisit because of a drenching rain, but stayed long enough to say thenation's health care system would be run "with the compassion of theKGB" if Bill Clinton becomes president. Bush was raising money forRepublican Senate nominee Rich Williamson. Story on Page 3. SCHOOL BUDGET GLITCH?: Gov. Edgar continues to say he would notspeed $43.7 million in state payments to Chicago schools. That moneywas included in the $2.6 billion Chicago Board of Education budgetapproved late Saturday. But Edgar said the board, which intends topay teachers less than their contract calls for, has not resolvedmatters with the teachers. Story on Page 1. CROATIANS VOTE: Hundreds of Croatians in the Chicago area and somefrom as far away as Milwaukee voted in Croatia's national electionusing two polling places set up in Chicago. Now the player is the doctorwho performed successful cancer surgery on the coach. Talamonti saidit was like paying back a favor.
