Fed: Aust should stay until East Timor feels secure - Cosgrove
Australia's Defence Force Chief, General PETER COSGROVE has suggested the Australian
military should remain in East Timor for as long as the East Timorese think they're needed.
General COSGROVE's told ABC radio Australia should stay in East Timor even after the
United Nations pulls out early next year.
But he says how long Australia remains in the world's newest country is a question
for government.
General COSGROVE and the Chief of Army, Lieutenant General PETER LEAHY, visited East
Timor on the weekend for the opening of the new English Language Training Centre and the
graduation of junior leaders of the East Timor Defence Force.
